Contact UsLee studied Economics and Business management at Newcastle University. Following graduation, he worked in the city for a Major high-street bank. After 10 years he returned home to run the family business and further develop his businesses in the North East. Lee's son is a keen athlete which has seen his interest in coaching grow. He's now joined forces with his friend Alex, to oversee the financial and marketing side of the business.
Alex is an ex-professional footballer who also represented Wales at international level from U16’s to U21’s. Alex has over 10 years experience in sports coaching in schools, private 1-2-1 and small group sessions, professional academies and disability in sport. Alex ran his own sports coaching business specialising in private football training before joining with Lee to build Apex Academy.
Elliot is an ex professional footballer currently still playing at National League North level with Darlington FC. Elliot came through the ranks at Gateshead FC with their college programme before breaking into the first team and signing professional with the club. Elliot joined Apex Academy full time as Director of Sport in June 2024 to lead our football and gym programmes at our facility.
Darren has a wealth of knowledge and experience from grassroots football, college football and senior football having most recently spent time as part of Blyth Spartans AFC back room staff. Darren leads football programmes at both our North Shields and Cramlington facilities as well as being a key part of our community programmes.
Brad’s background as a sports tutor and high level futsal player combine perfectly to allow him to create programmes and sessions to develop players technical ability and confidence with the ball. Brad works across both our North Shields and Cramlington facilities delivering our 1:1 and small group programmes.
Alex has his undergraduate degree in sports science alongside a masters degree in exercise physiology. His knowledge of S&C paired with his experience working in professional sport as Gateshead FC’s S&C coach gives us the ability to provide high quality programmes to all of our players. Alex also runs our online programming for athletes who may want to work with us but can’t make it in person. Alex is on hand to constantly monitor progress throughout the programmes. Patrice has made a real impact since joining our coaching team. His attention to detail in sessions has seen players make huge improvements in a short space of time already. Patrice has years of experience across various ages and levels of grassroots football which is perfect for the variety of players he will work with at Apex Academy. Since joining our team, Patrice now also leads part of our Elite Group Training programme, working with players from division 3 or above to push their games to the next level.
Rob is the newest member of our coaching staff, but has hit the ground running already. Rob has worked for a number of years coaching at a high level of local grassroots football and we are delighted to now have him on board to work with our players and develop their games. Welcome to the team, Rob!

Apex Academy have a wonderful way of enabling, even the most reticent child, to want to participate. They record every child’s progress in conjunction with the teacher and this enables parents to see how well their child is progressing over the year.
